Yelp that’s right. I said it..ME! Sounds a little selfish huh? Hold on, give me a second to explain and just maybe you’ll change your mind AND join in on my “shallow” cause. Like so many of us women we find ourselves giving gladly to everyone else and at the end of the day there’s nothing left for ourselves. ‘Houston, We Have a Problem’.
My message to all who may cross my path through my “selfish” blog is that in order to keep those we love with our heart and soul happy, we have to be willing to do the same for ourselves. Take your moment Mamas and buy that saucy little fingernail polish that catches your eye even though you have no idea what clothes you have to match. Click on a marathon of Beverly Hills 90210 and take joy in chanting along “DONNA MARTIN GRADUATES!” Let your mind go blank occassionaly as the kids are asking you for the 101 time today “Mom, where is my skateboard?” Tell them “I don’t know but I know where my glass of wine is.” Yes, they’ll look at you blank and then hopefully move on to Dad or even better go search it out themselves.
DO these things, smile and breathe. Your precious family (the co-stars I like to call them) will live and better from it when their leading lady is well rested and emotionally taken care of.
I wouldn’t trade my family for anything in the world, but dang can a mama catch five minutes once in awhile? Problem solved. Welcome to shallowOcity.
